Founded in 2010, Taipei Puppet Theater is composed of puppeteers and musicians rigorously trained in traditional glove puppetry. The company is dedicated to preserving and carrying forward the aesthetics of the art form, while layering a contemporary lens that furthers the stories of tradition.
Maintaining a full professional ensemble, the company continues to refine its artistic practice through training and performance. Its productions have been presented across campuses, temple courtyards, charitable institutions, and national theaters, with an international presence spanning Asia, Europe, Oceania, and North America. In 2022, the company collaborated with Japan’s YOUKIZA in a Taiwan–Japan cultural exchange program;; in 2024, it was invited to perform at the Taiwan Pavilion of the Cultural Olympiad in Paris, France. Blending traditional aesthetics with contemporary narratives, its works build bridges of understanding across cultures, ensuring that glove puppetry remains vibrant and resonant in the present day.
The company has been consistently selected as a Taiwan Top performing arts group, and in 2026 was recognized as a Taiwan National Brand Team, affirming its achievements and representative role in artistic creation, cultural preservation, and international outreach. show.
